Most people were not prepared for the changes and constraints of 2020 and even now tend to live in reactive mode instead of being proactive. Being reactive is the old way, and we should leave it where it belongs – back in 2020.
What did you learn from 2020? There are two lessons I believe that we all learned from the events of last year:
- Health is wealth.
- We must adapt.
For 2021, we must adapt to the new way of being proactive in all aspects of our lives. That means being proactive with your goals, habits, and actions. When you are proactive, you can adapt to the new way, so you can be Next Level.
Being Reactive: The Old Way
Being reactive means acting in response to a situation rather than creating or controlling it.
The unintended results of living a reactive life often look something like this:
- Becoming obese … then deciding to exercise
- Being diagnosed with diabetes or arthritis … then deciding to improve your nutrition
- Suddenly suffering from fatigue and lack of focus … then deciding to try to get 8 hours of sleep every night
Do you feel this way? Has being reactive given you the results you were imagining? I don’t mean average results, but the results that you REALLY wanted. This could be for your fat loss, nutrition, sleeping and/or self-care (mentally and physically). The year 2020 has taught us that making decisions based on this “old way” can really sabotage your health.
Being Proactive: The New Way
Being proactive means creating or controlling a situation by causing something to happen, rather than responding to it after it has already happened.
Imagine if you made daily choices that would give you positive results and allow you to MAINTAIN those results. Would you feel less pain physically? What things would get done ahead of time? Would you eat better so that you lose weight, sleep better, and have more energy? You can be healthier and stronger, and also increase your longevity when you live in ways that benefit you daily that will make you a Next Level human.
Steps you can take TODAY to become Next Level
Here are steps you can take today to go from the old way to the new way and become Next Level in 2021!
- Remove Nutritional Deficiencies
Create meals that will give you both the macros (carbs, protein, fats/oils) and micros (vitamins, minerals, supplements) that will allow you to perform to your potential and stay healthier longer. Drinking more pure, clean water is also part of this step; we humans are primarily water and even a small decrease in your intake will affect your physiology.
- Exercise Daily
Moving daily and keeping your body strong ensures that your body is ready to perform life’s activities. Exercising daily also reduces pain and the risk of injury by making your body stronger.
- Get 8 Hours of Sleep
Easier said than done, but sleep is the most important part of your recovery. The extra 2-3 hours of sleep that you add to what you are already getting can be a game changer to your health and allow you to become Next Level.
- Change in Mindset
Your mindset is what gets you to take the steps needed to become Next Level in 2021. Mindset is what will determine if you’re living in the old way (reactive) or the new way (proactive).
Do you want to live in the new year or the old one? You will have a new year if you start these changes and hold yourself accountable for your own health and well-being!
